SIR FRANK SHORT (British, 1857-1945). Stonehenge at Daybreak, 1897, Mezzotint after Joseph Turner (British, 1775-1851) monogrammed "S" on shield, above lower margin to left; also lettered, below lower margin, to left, "Drawn by J.M.W.Turner, R.A.", and to right, " engraved by F. Short 1897", with larger lettering in the centre of the image the title, with a smaller subline "From an Unpublished Drawing for the Liber Studiorum in the possession of J.E.Taylor, Esq." Pencil signed "Frank Short" lower right hand corner. Mezzotint is after the work included in the "Liber Studiorum" (Book of Studies, 1807-19), a collection of prints by J. M. W. Turner. Unframed. Note: The artwork is not glued down to a hard surface; it is mounted with hinges to a removable back board. - 7.5 x 10 in; sheet: 12 x 17 in
