An AN/PRC-5 Spy Radio Transmitter, American, circa 1944, with five Bakelite control knobs, ammeter dial, one amp coil, no oscillator coil or spares, in light brown rexine case with leather carrying handle, case 12in x 11in x 6in (30.5cm x 28cm x 15cm) Footnotes: Provenance: The John Elgar-Whinney collection of clandestine radios and cipher machines. The AN/PRC-5 was designed for shortwave communication over medium distances from variable points. It is a portable transceiver, the component parts of which are a radio telegraph transmitter, a radio receiver, and a power supply unit common to both.
