Item Details
Description
Leopold Plomteux (Belgian, 1920-2008). Abstract gouache and watercolor painting on paper, 1965. Signed and dated at lower right. A striking abstract painting by Belgian modernist Leopold Plomteux. Plomteux transitioned from figuration to non-objective abstraction in the late 1940s. His paintings are oftentimes geometric or lyrical in nature, as we see in this example. A visual symphony of royal blue, sunflower yellow, scarlet, lavender, black, and white delineated with bold drips, washes, and brushstrokes, infuses this captivating composition with palpable life and energy. An outstanding example of Leopold Plomteux's style and technique mounted in a custom frame. Size: 13.875" L x 20.9" W (35.2 cm x 53.1 cm) Size (frame): 17.875" L x 25" W (45.4 cm x 63.5 cm)
