Scarce third edition of Darwin's Origin of Species, "the most important biological book ever written". This edition "was extensively altered, and is of interest for the addition of a table of differences between it and the second edition, a table which occurs in each subsequent edition, and also for the addition of the historical sketch" of preceding theories of evolution. This is binding variant A, with full point (period) after "MURRAY" in spine imprint. Freeman 381.

Some extremity wear, rubbing to joints and imprint, the latter eliminating "JO" in the imprint and affecting a few other letters; small chip to fore-edge of title page, indecipherable pencil initials to title page, leaning a bit; very good condition.
