Description
STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN / NAUTICAL MOTIF TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF THREE, comprising one example featuring "COMMODORE MAC DONNOUGH'S / VICTORY" depicting a naval battle, one example with Steamboat (so-called Fulton's Steamboat) pattern featuring a boat with cattle in foreground and castle in background, and one example depicting the Shannon, a frigate ship in full sail on rough seas. Marks to underside include impressed eagle and shield with "E. WOOD & SONS BURSLEM / WARRANTED / SEMI CHINA", otherwise unmarked. Enoch Wood & Sons, Burslem; possibly John Rogers & Son, Longport, England; or other. Circa 1825. 10 3/8" DOA.
