Description
STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN HISTORICAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PITCHER AND BASIN, each featuring the Landing of Gen. La Fayette at Castle Garden, 16 August 1824, printed to each, depicting the arrival of the Marquis de Lafayette from France to New York Harbor. Basin having impressed crown mark encircled with "CLEWS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE" to underside, pitcher unmarked. Ralph & James Clews, Cobridge, England. 1814-1834. 11 1/2" HOA, basin 13 5/8" D rim.
