Description
FIGHTING SWORD WITH ANCHOR POMMEL. Overall length: 35". Blade length 29 1/4". Plain blade with a single side fuller. Brass hilt with a classic 4 slot guard and linearly decorated knuckle bow. Urn shaped pommel has an engraved fouled anchor on the back. Grip is black painted wood with 6 diagonal grooves. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark gray mottled patina with nicks to the edge. Hilt is quite loose with a break at the central arm of the guard. Anchor on pommel is quite worn. This sword was on display at the USS Constitution Museum during the Bicentennial. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor. (02-19883/BF). $600-900.
