Description

Late 19th C. one of a kind hand painted poster announcing a Thanksgiving day Riding Club Turnout, with a wonderful hand drawn illustration of the gathering of the hunt club, and with the names of participants on a scroll below the drawing. Two of the members listed, Albert P. Eastman and Will R. Eastman, are father and son of an Arlington, Virginia family, suggesting the outing occurred amongst Northern Virginia equestrians. The poster reads: " All Friends are Invited to Turn Out with the Riding Club Thanksgiving Day, meet at mr. Rowells at 2 1/2 P. M. Pres., R. E. Rowell. V. Pres., Dr. Talbott. Capt. Albert P. Eastman. Adjt. Lynn Abbot. Qrmr. Will R. Eastman. Bugler, Gregor Noetzel. Color Bearer, Miss Kathie Nourse." Artist unknown but likely same as lot 131 in this auction. In sepia watercolor or ink on brown paper. Edges somewhat tattered at top margin. Contemporary frame. Frame, approx. 34" x 46 1/4". Sight, approx. 25" x 37".
