North America, United States, 20th century. Signed "L. Starr" at lower right. An impressive, large-scale watercolor painting depicting Southwest, likely New Mexican, adobe architecture by L. Starr. (probably Lea Starr). The design is based on that of 300 year old mission churches and pueblos, and Starr captures the beauty of its thick adobe walls in shades of cream and soft pink, with flowing contours dramatically lit by the sun and accented by wooden vigas (beams), inviting the viewer to appreciate the elegant simplicity of pueblo architecture and its connection to the earthy. What's more the custom frame with its attractive textured pattern complements the painting perfectly! Size (painting): 27.75" L x 19.75" W (70.5 cm x 50.2 cm) Size (frame): 45.625" L x 35.125" W (115.9 cm x 89.2 cm)
