Native American, California, Yosemite National Park, Miwok peoples, ca. 1910 CE. A stunning example of Miwok basketry expertise, a hand-woven bowl boasting an abstract, minimalist rattlesnake motif along the side walls. Six of the slithering serpents course across the surfaces, their heads facing down towards the center of the basin, each with a zigzagging body that terminals along the top of the vessel's rim. The pristine condition of the basket fibers are a testament to the skill of the artist, making this an exquisite addition to any discerning collection. Size: 8.2" Diameter x 3.875" H (20.8 cm x 9.8 cm)
