Description
Oblong heavy metal silver-plated basket shape. It still has a lot of silver left and shines well. The basket rests on four raised feet that have an acanthus leaf motif. The inside of the basket has etched designs of shells and fern-like leaves. There are four medallions on the sides with raised Greek soldier designs. The inner edge mouth of the basket has a running bead border.
There is a stamped medallion on the base. In a circle is the stamped name WEBSTER N.Y MFG Co. and the numbers 0 and 15.
MEASUREMENTS
14” (35.6 cm) long x 7 7/8” (20 cm) wide x 3 7/8” (9.8 cm) tall. Weight 1 lb 8.7 oz (700 g)
CONDITION
The basket has small silver losses and scratches, as well as a few small dents. The basket used to have a handle but lost it at one point. It still has the bead decorations below the edge where the handle used to be, but the edge has been ground off. It actually still looks very good and it still shines well. By removing the handle, the basket actually works much better as a centerpiece than it would have with one.
This basket makes a rich statement on a table. The classic design adds to its interest and appeal. It shines richly.
