Jacques Peuchets “Campaigns of the Armies of France” is a rare, early 19th-century account of French armies and their wars in Poland, Saxony, and Prussia under Napoleon Bonaparte. The Napoleonic Wars were landmark in shaping Western Europe and Peuchets account became an important resource chronicling the wars following the French Revolution. Peuchet included countless letters and anecdotes from the wars, many of which offer a first-hand perspective of the wars.



This 1808 first English edition was translated by Samuel Mackay, printed in two volumes.

Likely Anson B. Hayden (b. 1790), a private in the 1st Regiment (Brainerds) Connecticut Militia during the War of 1812. The Hayden family was a prominent one in the Windsor, Connecticut area, being some of the earliest settlers there. The family first immigrated to America with William Hayden (1602-1669), who is recorded as having been part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and was noted for his heroism during the Pequot War.
