A black and white portrait of George Washington executed by Anson Dickinson after a painting entitled “Virginia Colonel” by Charles Willson Peale and engraved for Graham’s Magazine by J.W. Steel in 1854. Washington was young - only 40 - at the time thepainting was done by Peale. The gilt frame measures 8 1/8 x 5 3/4 in. wide and the image is 6 1/8 x 3 7/8 in. wide; the frame has occasional blemishes and still a handsome portrait of a young George Washington. Overall size: 8 1/2 x 5 3/4 in. Image size: 6 x 3 3/4 in.
