WOOLRICH, Cornell (1903-1968). Typed letter signed (“Cornell”) to his agent H.N. Swanson, West Hollywood, California, 13 April 1945.

2pp., 8vo, on Hotel Marseilles stationery, old folds, staple holes at top corner, agent’s rubberstamp of . Woolrich discusses the sale of six of his stories to B.G. DeSylva Productions and asks that concessions be made for transportation arrangements for he and his mother. “I do not intend to make the trip without her, since she provides a certain stabilizing influence which I have found over a period of years to be highly necessary and beneficial where my work is concerned”. One of these stories was the short story published under the title in 1942 “It Had to Be Murder” which was republished twice under the title “Rear Window”. DeSylva would sell their interest to Paramount who would gain the interest of producer-director Alfred Hitchcock and actor James Stewart to produce the picture.
