Civil War Letter Dated May 23,1865 (10 days following the last battle of the Civil War) From Annie M. Bostick of New Orleans, Louisiana to her Cousin Ms. Monica Rutledge of Hartford County, Maryland.Letter explains that Annie's father, Mr. Bostick, had just returned from serving approx. 4 years in the war, and that he was helping them forward Monica's letter to her brother John (who presumably had also been serving in the war.Regarding the outcome of the war, Annie stated, "You know Cousin the rebels are very Sewey(?) these days if they did have to surrender, but never-mind, every dog has its day, and I believe we will have ours."
