A FINE MID 19TH CENTURY GIANT-SIZE ENGLISH DOUBLE FUSEE REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK with ribbed hinged handle above a heavy moulded brass case inset with thick bevelled glass panels, the right side having a push repeat button. The silvered dial with Roman numerals signed 'James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London. No. 1719' fronting an eight-day chain driven double fusee movement with Harrison maintaining power and original lever escapement, signed backplate and striking the hours on a bell. The case back with a solid brass door with strike/silent lever. (25.5cm high)
