Ancient Egyptian Funerary Cone for the Scribe New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty ca. 1550 - 1295 BC. Dimensions: Face diameter: 3 inches (7.5 cm); Length: 4 inches (10 cm) Of conical form, the oval face with impressed text in raised relief that reads: "Scribe, steward of the first prophet of Amunre, Amunhotep justified", finger impressions to the sides of the cone where it was originally handled. Reference: Macadam and Davies, "Corpus of Inscribed Funerary Cones," #123 Daressy #: 22. One example was found near TT 181 (01-037 in Davies's notebook and 03-063 in Macadam's Red file). One example was found by Winlock below TT 252 (01-037 in Davies's notebook and 03-063 in Macadam's Red file). See also 05-022 in his DALEX file 1, and 06-049, 066, & 081 in his DALEX file 2.
