"Parrots and Flowers", by Alfonso T. Toran, large chromolithograph print, 1930s.-1950s. Signed in plate "A.T. Toran"
The plate is 16" x 20" [406mm x 508mm]; glossy paper, very good condition.
Alfonso T. Toran (1896, Naples, Italy - 1965, Hollywood, Florida), was Italian-American painter, decorator, designer, lecturer, writer and teacher, Toran received awards for his work in Italy, France and the United States. He is known for floral still life and exotic bird paintings.
In 1935, Alfonso Toran was the director of the Creative Studios of Art & Decoration in New York City. Toran painted murals in New York for the Hotels Delmonico, the Pierre, the New Yorker, the Waldorf-Astoria, Texaco and Chrysler Buildings.
Reference: Toran had a winter studio in Hollywood, Florida. He was listed in Who’s Who in American Art in 1947 and 1959.
Directory: Listed in the Hollywood City Directory, 1953, 1957-58, 1960, as an artist with a studio at 1608 Washington. [Website of Artists of Old Florida]
