Description
A rare and Beautiful ancient terracotta dish from the Mayan Civilization dating back to 700-900 AD. This is a genuine example of Maya painted pottery made during the first millennium. The large plate measures 9.75 inches across and measures approx 2 inches deep. The Plate features a zoomorphic creature ( Fox?) and stylized swirling designs. Dendrite minerals are prevalent throughout the pottery. The plate appears to be intact other then one 1 inch chip from the inner rim. Mayan peoples, Mexico. Provenance: The Larry Snider Collection, Chicago, Ill.
