Carved wooden helmet style in classic form, incised designs accented with kaolin clay. This is an early 20th century ( before 1930) Grasslands Nja Ceremony dance mask, worn by the Bamun or Bamenda peoples, Cameroon, Africa. The mask measures 33 x 12 inches.
