An Egyptian mummified ibis
Ptolemaic Period-Early Roman Period, circa 332 B.C.-100 A.D.

Accompanied by an x-ray of the interior.
The ibis was associated with the god Thoth, who records the judgement of the heart of the deceased. The birds were sacred and beloved animals to the Egyptians, so much so that those who killed an ibis, accidentally or otherwise, were put to death.

Condition
The mummy appears to be intact as preserved. The ibis and the linen wrappings have been stabilised by wrapping the mummy in nylon fishing line.
There are loose strings and fraying to the linen wrapping, with some patches of loss. There are patches of discolouration to the linen, the largest measuring approx. 13x6cm at it's widest.
