Description
Egyptian bronze standing Ibis, Third Intermediate Period, c. 1069-664 BC, with a wooden body and lapis lazuli tail feathers. As is typical the head and legs are of bronze, the head and beak nicely detailed. The feet are naturalistically modelled, and one leg strides before the other. A lovely example, set in a custom marble base. H: 5 1/4 in (13.3cm). Ex New Jersey private collection.
