Description: viii, 150 pp. 7 hand-colored plates of flies; colored frontispiece of a fish. (8vo) 20.5x12 cm (8x4¾") early full black polished calf, borders in blind and gilt, spine gilt. First Octavo Edition.One of the earliest books to include color plates of tied flies. Preceded by a quarto edition of only 12 copies. This copy annotated in an early hand on the front and rear blanks and various blank spaces within with passages from other angling texts. Also, the rear of each plates with descriptions of further flies and the material needed for their construction. Bookplate of John Simmen McCormac. Early ownership signatures of John Faith (1834) and G.F. Allan (1857).
