Three Civil War Commissioners of the Union Cartes-de-Visite
A group of three cartes-de-visite, each measuring 2.5" x 4", undated [ca. 1865], depicting numerous Union general and commissioners. Exhibits minor toning, foxing, and bumped corners throughout. Else, good condition.
The first, entitled "Our Peace Commissioners For 1865" show small portraits of union notables Ulysses S. Grant, David D. Farragut, William T. Sherman, among others, with Abraham Lincoln pictured at center. The second, "Generals of Departments", includes portraits of Benjamin Butler at middle, along with Nathaniel P. Banks, William Rosecrans, and Quincy Adams Gillmore. The third, captioned "Army of the Potomac", pictures commanders George Meade and U.S. Grant, among several of its generals such as Andrew A. Humphreys and Gouverneur K. Warren.
