DESCRIPTION: 1764 property deed for the Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania area. Hand-scrivend ink on vellum. Includes seal. Addressed from Chief Proprietor Thomas Penn (1702-1775) and Titular Governor Richard Penn (1706-1771), both sons of William Penn (1644-1718), the founder of Pennsylvania. Dated February 27, 1764, "the Fourth Year of the Reign of King George the Third." PROVENANCE: Includes 2006 document from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission verifying its documentation. MEASUREMENTS: 14" high x 17-1/8" wide. CONDITION: Overall good. Paper originally folded, with some small tears along folds. Some instances of staining. Small holes to bottom. Toning and foxing as expected with age. AJ.
