Note: Lucien Clergue is famous for his friendship with Picasso which began in 1955 when the photographer was yet a young man. In his book Clergue illustrates many photographs taken of the artist with his friends and wife, Jacqueline Roque. He wrote to Picasso from Arles in October 1955 requesting a meeting and from this an important friendship developed.
