Description
Hand written letter on Volta Laboratory stationery dated May 10th, 1881 and signed by Alexander Graham Bell. The letter is to a Dr. Isaac Norris in Philadelphia PA. Bell was publishing an article for the Journal of the Franklin Institute and was concerned about the size of the illustrations that were being used. It is most likely that the letter was dictated to a secretary and Bell signed it. The letter is in fine condition and measures 7.75" tall, 5" wide. It has been folded. Comes with the Volta Laboratory envelope that it was mailed in post marked Washington D.C. May 10, 1881. Just 5 years earlier Bell had invented the telephone. In 1880 he invented the Photophone, which transmitted messages wireless. It is most likely what the Franklin Journal article was about. Provenance: the Howard Hazelcorn collection
