The article with photo on the start of training of what would become the Tuskegee airmen details the race-based criticism from all sides,including the NAACP. The first tally of US casualties (dead, wounded andmissing) is published. The number of vessels sunk by Germany in the Atlantic is tallied. Cover story on Japan’s general Seishiro Itagaki attempt to dominate Asia militarily with map of his forces moving into China, Mongolia and Siberia and some historical perspective on how this came about. The dynamics in the south Pacific, MacArthur’s front. First US troops return from Libya. Starvation in Greece….. Briefly, this is an issue of Time describing a key time early in US involvement in WWII. Too much here to detail. A great resource for a high school or college student interested in this period.
