Description
Magna Graecia, southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A fine black-glazed pottery pouring vessel known as an epichysis with a characteristically spool-shaped lower body with a wide, bell-shaped shoulder. A pinched spout adorned with a pair of maskettes projects from the top of a tapering conical neck, and a high-arching strap handle joins the spout to the upper body. An elegant example from ancient Apulia! Size: 4" Diameter x 5" H (10.2 cm x 12.7 cm)
