Provenance: Cotton 1840's (some fabrics may be earlier) lone star / star of Bethlehem quilt, all hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted, with unusual appliqued background berries and flowers, and a vine border. The hand quilting is superb, with quilting around the piecework and applique and in dense feathered, floral, and petal designs in the background, all at 8-9 stitches to the inch. The back is the same aged white used in the background, the hand stitched binding is red, and the batting is thin.
