Description

Impressive Napoleon III Gilt-Bronze Three-Piece Clock Set

third quarter 19th century, the clock decorated with a serene mother comforting a sleeping butterfly-winged putto nestled in a blossom with molded leaves, the cove-molded base with incised scrollwork and raised on leaf-molded feet, h. 19-1/2", w. 23-1/2", d. 8", together with a pair of matching seven-light candelabra decorated with pairs of putti and leaf-molded sockets and candle cups, in the Rococo Revival taste, h. 31-1/2", dia. 14-1/2".

Condition

One candelabra is slightly loose. Downturned leaf on one candelabra above putti with "C" hair crack, but not dented. All bronze elements intact, but some scattered patinated spots to the surfaces. Clock missing pendulum and key. Back door with cracked glass. Handles slightly bent. Candle sockets missing all but two brass insets.
