A Chinese blue and white jardiniere
early 19th century
Of a tri-lobed form with flowers and vine tracery to exterior. With five carved feet and previous collector seal to underside.
H: 2 1/4, W: 9 3/4, D: 5 7/8 in.
H: 5.71, W: 24.76, D: 14.91 cm.
Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He amassed great wealth in the casinos there through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.
