This very rare sumakh bag face is illustrated in Frauenknechtâ€â„¢s book. Wertime has published an
almost identical example and described it as a weaving from the Kazak region on account of its central octagon enclosing stars. He leaves open the question as to whether the bag face was woven by Shahsavan living in the area or by another group. Tanavoli states the Moghan region as the provenance of a khorjin of the same design group published by him. â€â€œ Signs of age and wear, small holes and a number of missing areas, damaged sides.
Provenance: Maul Collection, Furth
