Federal Cherry Inlaid Tall Case Clock,
Simon Willard, Roxbury, Massachusetts, c. 1790.
Molded arch hood with fret joined by reeded plinths above the tombstone glazed door, painted iron dial showing the phases of the moon with seconds hand and calendar aperture, four painted spandrels, brass eight-day time and strike movement, above the waist with a molded tombstone door with inlaid quarter fans and stringing flanked by reeded brass mounted quarter columns, on a conformingly inlaid base centering an oval patera all on bracket feet (refinished).

Condition
Dial has wear, loss of paint in the moon phase wheel and calendar aperture, seat board replaced, door with replaced hinges, feet are original but have been broken and reglued, base panel has two shrinkage cracks.
