Faust is one of the most iconic German tales of legend, telling the tale of an unsatisfied man who makes a deal with the devil exchanging his soul for whatever his earthly desires might be. The story has most famously been adapted by Johann von Goethe, an adaptation which has become one of the most important versions of Fausts legend.
This 1883 English edition of Goethes Faust was translated into meter by Anna Swanwick with engravings by von Kreling.
