The memoir chronicles his firsthand experiences with the Army of the Potomac, including his observations of battles such as Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. Stewart also writes about his interactions with soldiers, officers, and other chaplains, as well as his efforts to provide spiritual guidance and support to those under his care.
