Hiroshi Sugimoto (born February 23, 1948) is a Japanese artist and photographer. He is best known for his large-format, black-and-white photographs that explore themes of time, history, and memory. Sugimoto's work often focuses on architectural spaces, landscapes, and seascapes, and his images are characterized by their use of long exposures and careful composition.Sugimoto was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, and later moved to Los Angeles, California, where he attended the Art Center College of Design. He currently lives and works in New York City and Tokyo. Sugimoto's work has been exhibited widely in museums and galleries around the world, and he has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to contemporary art and photography. Some of his most famous series include "Seascapes," "Dioramas," "Theaters," and "Architecture."
