Description
Roman, late Imperial Period, ca. 4th to 5th century CE. A colorful glass fragment showcasing the highly artistic millefiori style. Slender canes of red, black, white, green, and blue glass were first laid atop one another to form a sizable log of glass before it was sliced into individual pieces to reveal the intricate patterning within. This fragment bears elaborate checkerboard patterns along with solid and alternating colors. Size: 0.45" W x 1.44" H (1.1 cm x 3.7 cm); 2.7" H (6.9 cm) on included custom stand.
