SET OF FIVE EUGENE SCHOEN (AMERICAN, 1880-1957), ATTRIBUTED, SS LEVIATHAN OCEAN LINER ART DECO DINING CHAIRS, each, probably beech wood, featuring upholstered seat and back, raised on stylized reeded legs with slight splay and shaped stretchers. Circa 1930. Each 37" HOA, 16 1/2" x 17 1/2" seat.
Catalogue Note: The presently offered set of five chairs were originally a part of the furnishings designed by Eugene Schoen for the revamped modern interior of the SS Leviathan, a luxury ocean liner that was confiscated by the United States during World War I, modernized in the late 1920's, and then put back into service in 1930. Circa 1930. Each 37" HOA, 16 1/2" x 17 1/2" seat.
