Description
Wonderful light trout rod by master maker Sam Carlson, this 2/4 quadrate is rare in this short length. Featuring evenly flamed cane, rich orange colored varnish, copper brown wraps tipped gold then black, bronze snake guides, agate stripper, and a cork reel seat with blued cap & ring fittings. The nose cone at the front of the handle is a rare rosewood model, in addition, there is an attractive strip of rosewood (tulip wood) inlaid into the cork of the reel seat, preventing the ring from denting the cork over time. The butt is marked Thomas "Four", the owner's name on the following flat, with serial number 6212-4652. The varnish is excellent, there is moderate soiling of the cork but no damage otherwise. Both the ring and butt cap have minor bluing worn off. All sections are full length and straight, the ferrules need cleaning to seat fully. This is one of the shortest rods Carlson made and is seldom encountered. With the original blue bag and brass capped tube.
