Showing all the high quality workmanship that Jim Payne was known for, this 2/2 bait casting rod has the usual Payne brown wraps tipped gold, blued ferrules, a ferrule plug, fore and aft cork handles, and a Spanish cedar reel seat with screw down-locking aluminum hardware. It bears the "Sold By Abercrombie & Fitch" stamping. A blued nickel silver disk protects the base of the handle and there is mild soiling of the cork. There are nicks to the varnish which need attending. All sections are straight and full length, with the staggered ferrule configuration: the butt is made 13" shorter than the tips so that the ferrules are not located in the center of the rod when assembled. The ferrules need cleaning to seat fully. Coming with an unmarked bag and brass capped tube.
