Description
Walter Addison, New York, 1914-1982. A 12 piece terra cotta tile mural that forms an image of 3 Blue Heron fishing in shallow water and signed "Addison 48", likely 1948 - the tile in the upper right corner is missing and has a blank in its place that needs to be colored to match the scenery, otherwise all tiles are in very good condition with no damage - note that original pencil sketch for the mural is included in this sale. Each tile measures 6 1/8" square and the total image measures 18 1/2" x 24 1/2". Provenance: Consigned by family. All artwork was found in his cottage in Washington Depot, Connecticut, on the banks of the Shepaug River, where he lived with his wife Rhoda from 1965 until his death in 1982.
