DESCRIPTION: Patinated bronze sculpture by Masatsune depicting a pheasant with raised wings and a long tail. Piece is cast and patinated head with incised details on its feathers, legs, and feet and is accented with gold throughout. Marked on underside in a rectangular cartouche in kanji script: "Masatsune cast". Mounted on a carved wooden base pierced and fashioned to look like a gnarled branch or root.

ORIGIN: Japan
