Description
Three Civil War (3) Stereoviews Showing Albert Meyer, Founder of the U.S. Signal Corps
the first photograph shows a bearded Meyer in uniform seated between two other officers in a camp setting. A related Library of Congress image dates this scene to 1861; two other stereoviews with Meyer in the same tent are present, but he is wearing civilian clothing.
A medical doctor by training, Albert Myer became the U.S. Army's first "signal officer" and ran the Signal Corps until his death in 1880.
