David Livingstone was a Scottish medical missionary with the London Missionary Society, an explorer in Africa, and one of the most popular British heroes of the late-19th-century in the Victorian era. Henry Stanley, a fellow explorer, discovered Livingstone while in search of the Nile River. He wrote an important book following his mission entitled How I Found Livingstone, in which he describes his interactions with Livingstone along with his discoveries in Africa.
This 1872 first American edition features impressive folding illustrations and maps, including an enormous map of Lake Tanganyika.
