Description
Provenance: Property from the Saul Brandman Foundation. Beverly Hill, California. Vase in ebony tone Sumida pottery fabrication, circa Meiji period. Country of origin: Japan.This vase has a sage green and gray tone glaze on the surround, which has a ruffled design. There are two open handles below the surround. There is an applied pottery design on the front that depicts two male figures: one on the left in anebony tone robe that is crouched on his knees, and one on the right in a white robe with blue tone ying-yang symbols that is seated with his elbow on a table. There is an applied porcelain plaque on the back that is signed in Japanese charactersby the artist Hara Gozan. This vase measures 11.5 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter. Provenance: Property from the Saul Brandman Foundation.
