Fantastic X-1 and B-29 Photo Signed by 7 U.S. Test Pilots
A remarkable photo of an X-1 aircraft signed by seven different U.S. test pilots. Measuring 8" x 10", Southfield, n.d. A color image of a B-2p "Superfortress" with the Bell X-1. Signed by seven test pilots: Frank Kendall "Pete" Everest Jr., Gustav "Gus" Lundquist, Robert A. Chamberlain, Fred J. Ascani, John H. Griffith, Chalmers "Slick" Goodlin, and Bob Cardenas. The photo has a few minor spots of imperfections but overall very fine. All boldly signed.
The B-29 was a heavy bomber used in the Second World War, which carried the X-1 up to altitude in order to be dropped/launched. The pilot of the X-1 would then start the rocket motor and set about breaking the sound barrier. In 1947, Chuck Yeager piloted the X-1, nicknamed "Glamorous Glennis", and became the first person to break the sound barrier.
