Moran, Mary Nimmo (American, 1842-1899), Tween the Gloamin and the Mirk, 1883, etching (in brown ink), roulette and plate tone on cream wove paper, signed and dated in the plate lower left corner, image 7.25 x 11 inches, full sheet 13.5 x 17.25 inches, unframed. A rare print, and widely considered to be Moran's best work. The artist was the wife of Thomas Moran, and it's believed that this image depicts a site near their home in East Hampton, Long Island. Provenance: from the estate of the pioneering tattoo artist, fine artist and sculptor Nick Bubash, Pittsburgh, PA.
Condition
A good, rich and clean impression; light soil and handling to the margins, lower left corner of the sheet is chipped.
