The baluster-form vase depicting an armed soldier in winter attire staring at a temple complex in the distance, the incised inscription possibly referring in propagandistic terms to the 25th anniversary of the forcible Japanese annexation of Taiwan in 1895

Overall good condition with scattered scuffs, light scratches, and oxidation commensurate with age. One pronounced, lighter-colored scuff on the front left, approximately 0.75" in length. As well, there is some rubbed wear to the black patination on the soldier's helmet.
