Artist Biography:
Mario Giacomelli was an Italian photographer known for his documentary work and his expressionistic black and white images. Born in 1925 in Senigallia, Italy, Giacomelli began his career as a printer before studying photography in the 1950s. He is best known for his photographs of the people and landscapes of the Marche region of Italy, which he captured in a raw and emotive style. Giacomelli's work has been exhibited and collected by major museums around the world, and he has been recognized as one of the most important photographers of the 20th century.
